The Palestinian resistance forces, led by the Palestine Liberation
Army (PLA), have made significant progress at the Yarmouk Camp of
southern Damascus, advancing to the strategic School District Street,
where the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) had expelled the
Hamas-affiliated “Aknef Beit Al-Maqdis” last week.
Reinforcements from the predominately Palestinian Jarmana Refugee
Camp poured into the Yarmouk Camp, as their entrenched comrades were
engaged in a fierce firefight with the militants from ISIS and the
Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” at the Yarmouk Roundabout; this
provided a necessary boost to the Palestinian forces that eventually led
to the capture of the roundabout.
On the Al-Tadamon and Palestinian Camp axis, the PLA – in
coordination with Fatah Al-Intifada and the Popular Front for the
Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) – has captured more of
Palestine Street after another day of intense firefights with ISIS in
the southern part of the district.
According to a source from Fatah Al-Intifada, six soldiers from the
PLA and three soldiers from their resistance force were killed on
Sunday: Khaled Deeb Al-Laafi (Fatah Al-Intifada), Ahmad Nooh Mohammad
(Fatah Al-Intifada), Majd Hassan Yousif (Fatah Al-Intifada), ‘Issa
Ghassan Hassouni (PLA), ‘Umar Assi Sweidan (PLA), Nour al-Deen Khodor
Al-‘Abdullah (PLA), Mohammad Waleed Nasser (PLA), Hussein Qassim
Al-Sobhi (PLA), and Khaled Bashar Abu Yahya (PLA).
The source from Fatah Al-Intifada further added that ISIS suffered at
two dozen casualties; however, most of the militants killed were
unidentified.
At Hajar Al-Aswad, the militants from ISIS and Jaysh Al-Islam
reportedly clashed in the northern sector of the city after almost four
months of peace between the two groups.
